About Perishables

"Perishable goods" are temperature sensitive fresh products like:

  fruit
vegetables
fresh flowers
fish / seafood
meat
photo materials / film
pharmaceutical products
live animals

The handling of perishables is critical to the value of the goods. For an example, one hour out of the cool chain for a shipment of berries, equates to a one day loss of shelf life. In every shipment of temperature sensitive goods, the value of the shipment is impacted by the quality of every step in the process. Without the proper cool chain management throughout the shipment, there can be multiple failure points. These failures equate to loss of product, loss of quality, loss of value, potential health and safety issues, loss of sales opportunity.
